Privacy – MarkdownEdit
Effective: 2025-12-05
MarkdownEdit is a straightforward Markdown editor for macOS. It is built privacy‑first and does not
collect personal data. Your documents remain on your Mac unless you choose to share or sync them using
your own tools (e.g., iCloud Drive, Git, etc.).
At a glance
- No account, no tracking: The app has no login and does not use analytics or tracking frameworks.
- Local by default: Files and settings are stored locally on your Mac.
- No background network calls: MarkdownEdit does not send data to external servers.
Data the app may handle
- Documents: The Markdown files you open, create, or edit.
- Preferences: App settings such as appearance and editor options.
Storage and sync
- Local storage: Documents are saved where you choose in your filesystem.
- Optional sync: If you store your files in iCloud Drive or another sync service, syncing is handled by that provider under their policies. MarkdownEdit itself has no built‑in cloud service.
Permissions
- File access: Required to open and save your Markdown documents in folders you choose.
No analytics, no ads
MarkdownEdit uses no analytics frameworks, no crash or usage analytics, and displays no advertising.
Your control
- You control where documents are stored and whether they are synced by third‑party services.
- You may delete documents and preferences at any time.
